Plato was not a communist in the modern sense of the term. While some of his ideas, such as the communal ownership of property and the abolition of the family unit in his work "The Republic," may seem similar to communist principles, it is important to note that Plato's concept of communism was part of a larger philosophical framework aimed at creating a just and harmonious society. Additionally, Plato's communism was based on a rigid hierarchy and a ruling class of philosopher-kings, which differs significantly from the egalitarian principles of modern communism. Therefore, it is more accurate to say that Plato's ideas on communal ownership and governance were part of his broader philosophical vision for a just society, rather than a direct endorsement of communism as it is understood today. **

There is no direct evidence that Plato knew about Buddhism, as Buddhism did not reach Greece until after his lifetime. However, it is possible that some ideas from Buddhist thought may have indirectly influenced Greek philosophy through the cultural exchange along the Silk Road. Some scholars have suggested that certain similarities between Buddhist and Platonic ideas, such as the concept of the self and the pursuit of enlightenment, may indicate some level of cross-cultural influence. However, this remains a topic of debate among historians and philosophers. **
